
Rahim Yar Khan: At least five police officers were martyred and two other injured when the armed bandits attacked a police check in the Rahim Yar Khan district in Punjab at night on Thursday night.
A police officer said that the strongly armed dacoits pointed to Shekhani Checkpost, martyred five elite force personnel and hurting two other police officers.
During an exchange of fire, a Dacoit was also killed, said the spokesman.
The martyrdom police were identified as Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Salem, Muhammad Khalil, Nakheel and Ghazanfar Abbas.
Two of the murdered police belonged to Rahim Yar Khan, while the remaining three came from the Bahawalnagar district.
Taking a strict notice of the incident, the Punjab Police Inspector (IGP), Dr. Usman, Anwar, convened a report by the Regional Police officer (RPO) Bahawalpur and issued strict instructions to DPO Rahim Yar Khan to detain the culprits involved in the attack on the staff of the elite force in the Katcha region.
Homing tribute to the killed officers, Dr. Anwar said that his sacrifice would not be forgotten and describe his martyrdom as a brand of “great courage and duty.”
“Bandits launched a cowardly attack on the night of the night,” he said, adding that such cowardly acts could not shake the moral of the police force.
The Punjab police chief said that the police operation against the criminal groups will continue with full strength and resolution, emphasizing that those responsible will be taken before justice.
