Islamabad:
The death toll from the monsoon rains in Pakistan has reached 116, with five more reported deaths in the last 24 hours, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said Tuesday.
According to the NDMA, 116 people have lost their lives so far, including those who perished in the last 24 hours, when five additional deaths and at least 212 have been injured since June 26. Torrential rains have also caused generalized damage to infrastructure, particularly in low areas.
The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted more heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds in large parts of the country from July 15 to 17, warning possible sudden floods, landslides and urban floods.
The PMD said that a generalized rain is expected in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while the strong scattered showers can occur in the northeast and south of Baluchistan, the upper and southeast of Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltist.
The authorities have warned about the possible floods in local Corrientes and Nullahs in Dera Ghazi Khan, Northeast and Superior Punjab, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeastern Baluchistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Murree, Garyat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Buner, Swabi, Swabi, Swabi, Swabi, Swabi, Swabi Mardan

There is also a high risk of landslides in the mountainous areas of KP, Murree, Galiyat, Cashmira and GB, potentially interrupting road networks and communications.
Meanwhile, Bahawalnagar received the highest rain recorded at 86 mm in the last 24 hours.
NDMA also issued alerts for Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Chinint, Toba Tek Singh, Nanowal, Okara, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Finen, Khanewal and Bahawalpur, forecasting strong storms and intense rains in the next 12–24 hours.

In Islamabad and the surrounding areas, it is likely that the downpours continue during the week, with flood warnings issued from July 15 to 18 for urban areas in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, fine, Kot Adu and Bahawalpur.
In the mountainous regions of Rajanpur and DG Khan, the authorities warned about the increase in water levels in the torrents of the hill and the local currents that originate in the Pir Panjal mountain range.
Residents were urged in high -risk areas in KP, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and Waziristan, to prepare emergency kits with food, water and medications for 3 to 5 days.
