Five police officers injured as security forces repel terror attack in Bannu

‘Fitna-al-Khawarij’ terrorists attacked Sheikh Landak check post in the jurisdiction of Hovid Police Station in Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi.

‘Fitna-al-Khawarij’ is the state-designated term for terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Police personnel opened retaliatory fire, foiling the attack and several terrorists were reportedly killed or injured. Five police officers were also injured and taken to hospital.

Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan and DPO Afridi praised the bravery of the personnel in repelling the terror attack. They stated that the Bannu police have proven, once again, that they act as a wall against the enemies of peace. DPO Afridi added that the war against terrorism will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

The attack comes during repeated terrorist attacks in the province. On November 24, security forces in Bannu killed 22 Indian-sponsored terrorists in an intelligence-based operation. Four days earlier, seven terrorists affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked a peace committee office in Bannu, killing seven people.
