Rawalpindi:
A Rawalpindi court on Tuesday granted a death penalty to five defendants, together with life imprisonment and an accumulated sum of RS6.5 million in fines in a case of blasphemy registered against him for the wing of cyber crimes of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The additional judge of the district and the Tariq Ayub sessions delivered the verdict in the Court, which was full of lawyers and a large number of people. The court declared that the five criminals, Muhammad Arsalan, Ali Abbas, Faisal Rean, Khurram Afzal and Zunair Sikandar, had been sentenced to death.
The additional judge of the district and the sessions ruled that the convicts had committed an atrocious crime and that they did not deserve any concession. After the verdict, the convicts were transferred to the Adiala prison in the midst of strict security.
Separately, the police in Lahore told AFP on Tuesday that the YouTube star, Rajab Butt, was accused of blasphemy for appointing its perfume brand after the law section of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC) that is related to blasphemy.
In a recent promotional video, since it was eliminated from its social media accounts, Butt launched its perfume, whose name referred to blasphemy legislation in the Criminal Code. The advertising of the perfume caused IRA, which led the leader of the Tehreek-E-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to file a complaint on Monday night.
“Our religious feelings have been injured,” said TLP leader Haider Ali Shah Gillani. “There are numerous sections in the Criminal Code, but why did you choose sections related to blasphemy to name a perfume? This means that it recognizes the crime and is celebrating it,” he added.
Butt issued an apology video on Sunday, stating that it was not against blasphemy laws. “I apologize for the words I pronounced during the launch of the perfume,” he said. “I apologize and announce the interruption of this perfume,” he added.
A police charges seen by AFP and authenticated by a police officer on Tuesday details the accusations against Butt, including blasphemy and cyber crime. In other legal problems, Butt declared himself guilty in January of having an undocumented wild animal. However, he avoided the term of the prison.
