FM Chinese Wang Yi arrives in Islamabad for an official three -day visit


Islamabad:

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for an official three -day visit at the invitation of the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar.

Dar received the Wang Yi in Nur Khan Airbase, where high officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassy were also present. A group of children with traditional outfit welcomed the guest of honor with Flores.

During the visit, the sixth strategic dialogue of the foreign ministers of Pakistan -China will be held in Islamabad. The conversations will be co -chaired by Wang Yi and Ishaq and are expected to focus on political, economic and security cooperation.

The arrival of Wang Yi is ahead of the planned trip of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Beijing at the end of this month for the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, currently on a tour in southern Asia, previously attended the sixth dialogue of trilateral foreign ministers in Kabul together with DPM Dar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

During the dialogue, Pakistan, China and Afghanistan reaffirmed their commitment to deepen regional cooperation, agreed to extend the Chinese economic corridor -Pakistan (CPEC) to Afghanistan.

The three parties said that the extension of CPEC would increase the opportunities for trade, transit and development for Afghanistan, linking it more closely with regional markets.

In a joint statement, the ministers also promised to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. They underwent the importance of coordinated security efforts to stabilize the region.

The dialogue further reaffirmed collaboration in health, education, culture and regional connectivity. “We are still committed to the promotion of peace, development and prosperity in the region,” said the statement.
