Islamabad:

On Thursday Foreign Relations Office (FO) categorically rejected the comments made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the situation in illegally occupied Indians Jammu and Kashmira (Iiojk), qualifying them “without foundation and misleading.”

Fo was responding to the direction of Modi in Iiojk earlier in the day, during which he accused Pakistan of attacking humanity and the identity of Kashmiro by attacking tourists in Pahalgam.

In a statement, FO said such comments were a deliberate attempt to divert international attention from serious and persistent human rights violations committed by Indian forces in the region.

“It is deeply unfortunate that the Indian prime minister has leveled unfounded accusations against Pakistan regarding Pahalgam’s incident, without offering any evidence,” the statement said.

The statement reaffirmed the long -standing position of Pakistan that Jammu and Cashmira is an internationally recognized territory, whose final state must be determined in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the wishes of the People of Cashmir.

“Declarations and claims cannot alter the legal and historical reality of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” he added.

Responding to India’s development statements in the occupied territory, the FO said that such statements contrast with the situation in the field, which is marked by a strong military presence and a systematic suppression of fundamental rights.

“Arbitrary arrests are carried out, and systematic efforts are being made to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK, in clear violation of international law, including gin conventions,” said the statement.

The FO also reiterated the support of Pakistan’s principles for the people of Cashmiro in their legitimate struggle for the right to self -determination. “Pakistan remains firm in his support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and his inalienable right to self -determination,” he added.
