Sports Interactive has announced the complete cancellation of the next entry in its giant football of the Sim Strategy and Management Sim franchise, Soccer Player 2025.
Announced in the developer’s social media accounts, such as the following in X (previously Twitter), Sports Interactive apologized to fans, saying “we regret having disappointed.” As the normally annual series will now omit a complete entrance.

Previously promoted by the developer as the biggest graphic and technical step that the series has seen, the transformation has not yet been considered good enough for its launch, and Sports Interactive now “will change our approach to the next version.”
The developer also, curiously, reveals that the total cancellation was preferable to release the game in its current state and then patch it with regular updates, a practice almost always seen with video game releases, annual or not.
When addressing that election, the statement says: “We could have submitted, launched FM25 in its current state and fixed things in the future, but that is not right.”
Sports Interactive adds that game tests and internal evaluations have established that “they are approaching”, but then added that “we are too far from the standards you deserve.”
He continued: “Each decision to delay the launch was taken with the aim of bringing the game to the desired level, but, as we approached the critical milestones at the beginning of the year, it was unequivocally clear that we could not achieve the required standard required”
