Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir emphasized the unique bond between the people and the army, rejecting foreign-driven narratives that attempt to create divisions, the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. ).
Speaking in Peshawar during a discussion with political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Asim Munir said: “There is a special relationship between the people and the army. False narratives of a breakup are fundamentally driven by specific agendas from abroad.”
The Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s political priorities and stated, “Our policy is solely focused on Pakistan.” Regarding ties with Afghanistan, he said: “Afghanistan is our brotherly neighboring Islamic country, and Pakistan has always sought better relations with it.”
However, he highlighted that Pakistan’s disagreements with Afghanistan stem only from “the presence of miscreants in Afghanistan and cross-border terrorism, which need to be addressed.”
General Munir clarified that there are no plans for large-scale military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding: “No area of Pakistan is under the control of these miscreants. “Specific intelligence-based operations are carried out as necessary.”
He urged unity against terrorism and stated: “The State must take priority over politics. If the State is compromised, there will be nothing left. “We must remain united, free of prejudice, to confront terrorism.”
The Army Chief also highlighted the importance of learning from past mistakes. “Human beings are fallible, but not recognizing mistakes and learning from them is a bigger mistake,” he said.
Regarding the National Action Plan, he praised the consensus among political parties, but urged to accelerate efforts to implement its provisions effectively.
