There is no shortage of small digital microphones designed for creators of content in the market, and Insta360 has just entered the fray with its first wireless microphone: the Air Insta360 Mic.
The Mic (or TX) air transmitter is an album of the size of a coin that can be cut to a necklace, fixed to a shirt with a magnetic clamp or even used as a pendant. It is supplied with a windshield to help reduce unwanted exterior noise, in addition to incorporated noise reduction technology. It offers a 10 -hour battery life and a wireless range of 300 m.
This is really good: the Air Mic admits an audio of 48 kHz/24 bits through a direct wireless connection with two of the Insta360 action chambers: the Insta360 x5 and installs DJI.
However, if you mix marks, lose that direct wireless connectivity and need a receiver. As such, it makes practical sense that coincides with its action camera and its wireless microphone, so if you are an X5 or Ace Pro 2 user, the new Air MIC makes more sense. More models compatible with microphone air will follow soon, according to Insta360.
MIC air can also be purchased in an RX (receiver) and TX (transmitter) package. The RX unit can be connected to smartphones, Insta360 and other devices flow gimbals, expanding the compatible hardware range.

Designed to Rate with the Likes of the Dji Mic Mini, Rode Wireless Micro and Boya Mini, The Insta360 Mic Air Is Compact, Lightweight (The Tx Transmitter Being Just 7.9g) and Affordable: IT’S Available Now at Amazon Us and Amazon UK, priced at just $ 49.99 / £ 49.99 / AU $ 89.99 for A Single Tx, and $ 69.99 / £ 69.99 / AU $ 116.99 for the RX and TX package, and for the same price in the Insta 360 store.
That is more or less the same as the equivalent DJI packets, although, curiously, Insta360 has decided not to sell a more complete package, such as two TX units, an RX and a package of load cases, at least for now. These packages all in one, as you can buy DJI Mic Mini, offer much more battery life thanks to the loading box, plus a second TX for the capture of audio of two people. Apparently, these are two areas where you install360 is clearly happy to grant the floor to rivals like DJI and Rode.

While MIC air is a fairly direct addition and even obvious to the Insta360 product line, it is also a sign that the company’s ambitions seem to be growing. Just as DJI was mainly known for its drones, but now it also manufactures action cameras, gimbals, microphones, power plants, electric bicycles and even, apparently, a robot vacuum cleaner, Insta360 is gradually increasing and diversifying its alignment.
It also means that Insta360 x5 users (and Ace Pro 2) looking for a wireless microphone to level their audio can remain in the brand, instead of combining the 360 camera with a microphone from a rival brand, such as DJI, which feels like an obvious movement in the Insta360 part. In fact, the microphone will be available with the X5 in a Creator Ultimate package, for $ 669 / £ 669 (Australia Price TB).
A microphone air review sample is on its way to us from Insta360, so seek a complete and deep review soon. We are eager to see how it aligns with the DJI Mic Mini, which is widely considered the current market leader for ultra -competent affordable microphones.
