Highpoint Technologies has launched the Rocket 7604a Raid AIC, a PCIE Gen5 RAID card designed to transform four 8TB M.2 SSD into a single high -speed 32 TB storage matrix.
This configuration allows one of the largest possible SSD settings on a desk, which offers real -world speeds greater than 50 GB/s.
While Samsung has exhibited its SSD 8TB 9100 Pro PCIE 5.0 m.2 high strength recently, it is worth noting that, at the time of writing, there are no SSDS 8TB Gen5 are publicly available for purchase.
Rocket 7604a enables 32TB Raid with Gen5 SSDS
The Rocket 7604A instead achieves its performance using high capacity GEN4 units currently available. Even when combined with smaller SSDs, the card admits one of the fastest SSD settings currently possible in a standard PCIE Gen5 slot.
Physically, the 7604A rocket is compact, which measures only 167 mm, shorter than other 4 port gen5 cards, which often reach 290 mm or more.
The Highpoint engineering equipment claims to have reduced size without compromising thermal performance by implementing an autonomous cooling solution. This includes a full length thermal dissipator, a quiet fan and a network of sensors to maintain a stable operation.
The cooling system helps prevent thermal strangulation and admits sustained transfer rates, which are critical for intensive workloads.
In addition to its hardware characteristics, Rocket 7604A comes with a set of robust software designed for reliability and ease of use.
Includes intelligent self -diagnosis tools, state alerts through LED and sound, and admits the administration through a webgui, command line and configuration interface at the BIOS level.
Highpoint’s Safestorage encryption is also admitted, protecting data on all unauthorized access.
Both the Rocket 7604A and its brother, the 1604A, are driven by the PCIE IC switch of Broadcom, which offers four full X4 lanes of GEN5 bandwidth to each slot m.2.
The RAID version is priced at $ 999, while the switch model is only available for $ 899. It is projected that a complete configuration that uses four 8TB SSD and Rocket 7604A will cost around $ 4,000.
According to Highpoint, this price “represents an exceptional value when double the performance capabilities of NVME solutions of 4 conventional ports” and is destined to promote a broader adoption of the storage of GEN5 in high demand computing environments.
