Mikey McCoy, former Charlie Kirk cabinet chief, criticized the New York Mets announcer Gary Cohen for critical comments that the station made about the rookie of Chicago puppies, Matt Shaw, attending the commemorative service of the conservative influencer.
McCoy published a Kirk video on Thursday walking towards Wrigley Field in August. He wrote that it was a dream come true for Kirk, who was a great admirer of the Cubbies. But when Cohen called the absence of Shaw from the Chicago alignment “Weird”, he brought a ton of reaction.

“A little over a month ago, Charlie’s dream came true … He had the opportunity to walk for Wrigley Field and then see his friend Matt Shaw hit a home run,” McCoy wrote in X.
“A month later, Charlie is gone and Matt Shaw is receiving a violent reaction for attending his friend’s monument. Shame with Gary Cohen …”
Cohen made his comments on Tuesday night between the Mets and the puppies.
“I don’t want to talk about any of the policies, but the idea of leaving your team in the midst of a race for any reason other than a family emergency, it really seems strange to me,” Cohen said during the SNY transmission.
The Mets station, Todd Zeile, described the absence of Shaw “unprecedented.”

New York Blast Mets radio hosts about the comments on the puppies who attend the Charlie Kirk’s memorial service
“It is unusual, I think it is not preceded at least of my experience as a player, and I think it made it a little more unusual that it was not revealed until after it was issued because it was thought that I was on the bench and perhaps available, and it was not, and that was how it was revealed,” Zeile said.
Shaw explained on Tuesday why he set out to attend the monument despite his team’s schedule.
“My connection with Charlie was through our [Christian] Faith, “Shaw said before the puppies opened a new series with the New York Mets on Tuesday, according to Chicago Sun-Times.” And that is something that drives me every day, the reason I can do what I do every day, and that is something I am extremely grateful.
“I know without my faith and without the many blessings that have given me in my life, that I would not be here, to be able to talk to you, capable of helping this team eventually go and win championships.
“That is something I really feel, very blessed, so any violent reaction is fine. I feel strong with my faith and what was destined to happen.”

Shaw seemed to take criticism calmly on Wednesday night. He had 3 of 4 with a home run while the puppies enrutated the Mets, 10-3.
