The older brother of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan was shot dead in Swabi Ahad Khan, police said Sunday.
Shakeel Ahmed Khan was fatally beaten when he tried to intervene in a dispute in his neighbor’s house.
The suspect allegedly had just shot and killed his own father. When Shakeel Ahmed Khan hastened to help the victim, he was also attacked and triggered fatally, police said.
The Swabi District Police officer (DPO) Muhammad Azhar declared that Kamran is a drug addict and mentally unstable. The officials responsible for enforcing the law have initiated an investigation and assured that the suspect will be arrested soon.
The main political leaders, including Jamaat-E-Islami (JI), Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, have firmly condemned the murder of former brother of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan in Swabi.
Rehman expressed solidarity with the afflicted family, calling the attack a “brutal act of violence.” He urged the Government to guarantee rapid legal actions against perpetrators.
The KP Prime Minister, Gandapur, also denounced the murder and transmitted his condolences to the former senator. He assured that the suspect would face strict punishment under the law and prayed for the deceased and their family.
The authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
