Islamabad:
The security forces arrested four Afghan terrorists in a successful operation near the border areas of Pakistan-Fanganistan in Baluchistan and confiscated a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including rifles of Kalashnikov, hand grenades and other firearms, the fountains said Thursday.
They said that the operation was carried out in the Toba Kakri area on Wednesday, and added that the arrested terrorists had confessed to Pakistan through the border, and were planning a great terrorist attack in the country.
In his confessional statement, according to the sources, a arrested terrorist gave his name as Asamuddin, son of Gulshad. He admitted that he had come from Afghanistan three days ago, with two weapons, two Kalashnikovs, a grenade and other weapons. He added that he intended to go to Pishin.
The sources revealed that the local population played an important role in the success of the operation against terrorists. Defense experts said the locals fighting together with the security forces against terrorists were a welcome development.
Pakistan in recent times has seen an increase in terrorist attacks in the country orchestrated from Afghanistan. Several Afghan terrorists had been killed in operations by security forces in different parts of the country.
Dead Afghan terrorists include Badruddin, son of the governor of the Afghan province of Baghdis. On February 28, another Afghan terrorist, Womenbur Rehman, was killed, who was commander of a military academy in Afghanistan.
According to defense experts, the main reason for the increase in terrorism in Pakistan was that terrorist outfits flourished in the Afghan soil, which justified immediate action internationally.
