At least four people, including Frontier body staff (FC) and a driver, were martyred when the militants opened fire against their vehicle in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Karak district on Wednesday.
The attack occurred in the Aman Kot Towi area, within the jurisdiction of the Gurguri Police Station, when FC officials were on a route for the field security service.
The armed assailants, placed on a hill, launched an attack, which resulted in intense shots and the immediate deaths of the four aboard.
SP research Karak, Ashfaq Khan, confirmed the deaths and said that the four bodies had been transferred to the hospital.
The security forces and the police quickly cordoned off the area and since then a search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to track the attackers, said Dpo Karak.
The Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, condemned the incident, paying tribute to Lance Naik Mehmood Shah, Sepoy Shahid, Sepay Rauf and the driver Shahpur, who were martyred in the fulfillment of duty.
He expressed deep condolences to the afflicted families, stating that their sacrifices strengthen the resolution of the Nation against terrorism.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister Ali Amin Gandapur also condemned the attack and ordered the authorities to stop those responsible.
He extended solidarity to the families of the martyrs and honored the sacrifices of security forces.
