LAHORE:
Four workers died in the place after being electrocuted while installed a sign on the roof of a store in Shahdara.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Daulat Khan Road when workers tried to install the advertising board on the roof.
According to rescue officials, one of the workers accidentally touched an electric cable, which caused the current to flow through the metal sign and electrocuting the four men.
Three of the deceased were identified as Nadeem, 45, 25 -year -old Nouman and Muhammad Awais Haider, 26. The fourth victim, approximately 25 years old, could not be identified until night.
“Upon arriving at the scene, our teams discovered that the four people had already succumbed to electrocution,” said a rescue officer 1122.
“The bodies were transferred to the Morgue of the May Hospital for legal formalities,” he added.
According to the police report prepared by thus Ghulam Hussain of the Shahdara Police Station, the workers tried to install two advertising boards that measure about 17 feet long and 13 feet wide. The incident occurred when the great sign came into contact with a main transmission line of 11,000kv while rising to the roof.
The police report indicates that the workers had brought the signs of the Karim market on the same night and tried to install them in the dark without adequate coordination with the Electric supply company of the HORE or obtaining the necessary permits of the Parks and Horticulture Authority and the Lahore Metropolitan Corporation.
The authorities dispelled an extended perception on social networks that electrocution had occurred while merchants eliminated signs to avoid action.
“This accident is not related to pear force operations,” said a clarification, referring to the regulatory authority and Punjab regulatory authority. “The merchant and the workers were not eliminating signs, but were installing two new advertising boards without permits in the dark of the night.”
The bodies of the identified victims were delivered to their families after completing legal formalities.
Police said investigations on the circumstances that had led to the incident continued.
Local authorities urged merchants and contractors to guarantee security measures and obtain the necessary approvals before installing any signage, particularly in areas with electricity supply lines.
Meanwhile, the roof of a construction house collapsed near Bedian Road, which resulted in the loss of two lives and left a seriously injured person.
