MUZAFFARABAD:
Four terrorists were killed and two police officers hugged martyrdom during an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the Hussain Kot area of the Rawalakot district, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Wednesday.
According to police officers, the meeting took place when police staff raided an alleged hiding place. According to the reports, the terrorists opened fire and threw grenades from the security team, which resulted in the martyrdom of two police officers on the spot.
In an attempt to evade the arrest, the terrorists detonated explosive devices, committing suicide in the process. Among the deceased was the leader, Zarnosh Naseem, to whom the police said he was sought in several cases of high profile, including the murder of Agent Sajad Resham.
The authorities added that Naseem had been residing in the Rawalakot area for some time and was affiliated with a proscribed terrorist attire that operated in the region.
The deputy inspector (DIG) Poonch, Sardar Zaheer, confirmed the death of the four terrorists and the martyrdom of two police people during the operation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised security forces for a successful anti -terrorism operation. In a statement, he paid tribute to martyred police, noting that his sacrifice had helped avoid important tragedy.
“Martyrded officers have given an example by sacrificing their lives in the fulfillment of duty,” Naqvi said, adding: “The whole nation greets their courage and meets the afflicted families at this difficult time.”
