ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday said a joint operation by the Intelligence Bureau and the Counter-Terrorism Department arrested four members of a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan/Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP/FAK) cell linked to the suicide attack at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex, G-11.

SB Usman Qari belonged to the Shinwari tribe and was a resident of Achin, Nangarhar, Afghanistan. When he arrived in Pakistan from Afghanistan, Sajidullah alias Sheena arranged for him to stay at a residence near Islamabad.”
The statement continued: “Following instructions from Afghanistan-based TTP/FAK Commander Daadullah (Fitna al-Khawarij), Sajidullah alias Sheena collected a suicide vest from Akhun Baba Cemetery in Peshawar and brought it to Islamabad. On the day of the blast at the G-11 Judicial Complex, Sajidullah Sheena placed the suicide vest on SB Usman alias Qari.”
The government further said: “The network was managed and guided at every step by the Fitna al-Khawarij/TTP high command based in Afghanistan.”
The entire cell involved in the incident, including its commander and three other members, has been arrested. Investigations continue and more revelations and arrests are expected,” the statement added.
The suicide explosion in the Judicial Complex left 12 people martyred and at least 36 injured, including lawyers and petitioners, and caused the suspension of judicial proceedings. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the attacker detonated himself near a police vehicle after failing to enter the court.
Police reported that the explosion set nearby cars on fire and scattered debris throughout the area. An investigation report prepared by the police states that the attacker arrived in Islamabad last Friday and traveled to the court from Pirwadhai on a motorcycle.
The attack, the first suicide bombing in the capital in almost three years, since December 2022, came as Islamabad hosted major international events, including the Inter-Parliamentary Conference of Presidents and the sixth Margalla Dialogue.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned on Tuesday that Pakistan could carry out attacks inside Afghanistan following recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and South Waziristan, and criticized Afghan Taliban authorities for harboring militants behind the violence.
A day before the blast in Islamabad, a group of militants infiltrated Wana Cadet College. Security forces carried out a successful operation, safely evacuating all students and staff and killing the attackers who had taken refuge inside.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “vicious and cowardly Indian-backed terrorists” attempted to breach the perimeter by ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate, causing it to collapse and damaging nearby infrastructure.
The ISPR said two militants were killed immediately, while three more were cornered and later neutralized by troops.
