On Tuesday, a scheduled meeting of the Government Conversations Committee was postponed after Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) representatives did not attend.

The president of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, announced that the Committee would remain intact despite the lack of participation, said Express News.

Speaking before the meeting, Sadiq declared that all members were invited, and the opposition was expected to attend.

“We hope for 45 minutes, but we received a message that they would not come,” he said, adding that PTI leaders had informed him that they would consult their main leadership before responding.

Sadiq emphasized that the absence of the opposition made more meaningless discussions, but reaffirmed its commitment to facilitate dialogue.

“My doors remain open, and I hope the conversations can come from both sides,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, present at the meeting, said that the Government had prepared responses to PTI’s demands and was anxious to advance dialogue. “We came ready to discuss your concerns, but without your presence, how can we answer?” He commented.

The Government remains optimistic when solving political differences through negotiations, but the delay marks another setback in efforts to close the division between the ruling coalition and the opposition.

PTI refuses to attend conversations despite the efforts of Na speakers

Previously, the PTI had refused to participate in a meeting scheduled for Tuesday despite the efforts of the president of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to involve the opposition in the dialogue, said Express News.

According to the sources, Sadiq communicated with the opposition leader and the head of the PTI negotiation committee, Omar Ayub, during a phone call, inviting the party to join the discussions. He emphasized the importance of resolving political differences through dialogue and urged PTI to participate in conversations.

“Dialogue and negotiations are the only way to solve problems. Solutions can be found through significant discussions, ”according to reports, Sadiq told Ayub.

However, Ayub informed the speaker about PTI’s decision, issued by the founder of the Imran Khan party, to boycott the meeting. He highlighted the fact that the government did not address PTI’s demands and accused him of using delay tactics.

“The government has been stagnating in our demands. Without the formation of a judicial commission, there can be no progress in the negotiations, ”said Ayub to Sadiq.
