- We’ve heard about another cheap GPU in Walmart’s clearance aisle
- Someone bought an 8GB RTX 5060 Ti for only $80
- That takes the cake for a low-priced GPU, and is about 20% of the starting price this graphics card would normally sell for.
The streak of lucky PC owners in the US getting huge discounts on graphics cards (or other components, e.g. SSDs) in Walmart’s clearance aisle continues, and this time someone managed to purchase a new Nvidia Blackwell GPU for $80.
Once again, this eye-opening bargain was highlighted on Reddit (as noted by VideoCardz), and the person in question scored an MSI Ventus 2X variant of the RTX 5060 Ti (8GB) for $80.
The Redditor observes: “I went to my local Walmart and found this in the cabinet. It seemed too good to be true, but called for the listed price.” They added that they are upgrading from a GTX 1060, so the new GPU will be a big step up.

Of course, you shouldn’t be able to get any RTX 5000 GPU for that little money, and this is well below the typical retail price, which is currently around $360 at Walmart. In fact, a starting price of $80 is 20% of the cost of many RTX 5060 Ti models.
Why is GPU so cheap? One theory passed around on Reddit is that this graphics card is currently discounted by $80 at other stores, so an employee at this particular Walmart accidentally lowered the price of the product to that level instead of applying it as a reduction.
Analysis: A quick authorization check could yield good results
Does this sound unlikely? Well, in a way it is, and obviously we need to add some spice to this story, as with all these matters: forgery happens. That said, we’ve seen quite a few stories of great deals among Walmart’s clearance discounts as of late, although it’s true that 80% off is a new high.
Not all Walmart stores sell graphics cards independently, but if you’re in the US and your local store does, it’s apparently worth a detour to the clearance section every time you visit to quickly see what deals may be offered there. The same can also apply to large traditional retailers in other countries.
There have been some cheap purchases of Nvidia RTX 5070 and 5080 GPUs at Walmart lately (and RTX 5090 models as well, although even with a deep discount, the flagship is still an expensive proposition, of course).
All of this is a refreshing contrast to a world where GPU prices are rising and scams are rife (including a new twist on the rock-in-a-box graphics card scam: an RTX 5090 buyer ends up with a packet of laundry detergent, interestingly enough).
