Gandapur offers to direct conversations with Afghan Taliban

Islamabad:

While Terror Rockea, the province, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Prime Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has urged the federal government to formally entrust the responsibility of negotiating with the Afghan Taliban, stating that the dialogue was the only viable path towards peace in the region.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad on Friday, Gandapur said his government had formulated a peace plan in consultation with tribal advisors of all agencies and presented it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.

However, he regretted that the proposal remained unanswered. “The Taliban cannot reject conversations with tribal elders. Take them to the table: negotiations are the only solution,” he added.

“I will make conversations with [Taliban supreme leader Haibatullah] Akhunzada “.

“At this time, I have no contact with the Taliban, but if they send me, we will work it,” he added. He also took a mockery to the Chief of Jui-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, claiming that his influence on the Taliban had decreased and that only the lower level Taliban leaders committed themselves to him.

“Sit with the Taliban on the table, keep the conversations with them, it is the only solution,” said KP cm.

Gandapur said that the cleric-political exceeded all other political parties to celebrate public demonstrations in KP before the 2024 elections. “We hid in the mountains before the elections. We did not celebrate any demonstration,” he said.

Previously, heading to an IFTAR party organized by him, Gandapur said his province has left the financial crisis. KP has a surplus of RS159 billion, while Punjab has faced a deficit of RS148 billion. “We have introduced transparency in the province,” he added.

Leaving aside the accusations of corruption, he joked that if the province was in surplus after corruption, such corruption should be adopted by all other provinces.
