Rawalpindi:
The resignation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Amin Gandapur, as the president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) of the province has been accepted, emerged on Tuesday.
Gandapur, who also directs the provincial government led by PTI, voluntarily resigned, with his resignation approved by the president of PTI, BarrĂster Gohaha, on the instructions of the founder of the Imran Khan party, Fuentes revealed.
“Gandapur himself had asked Imran Khan to relieve him from the position, and the approval was granted accordingly,” the sources added.
It is noteworthy that, only two days ago, Gandapur had been withdrawn from the post of the president of PTI KP and Junaid Akbar designated as his replacement.
On Saturday, the PTI had announced a key leadership change in the province with Prime Minister Gandapur resigning as president of PTI KP. It was happened by the president of the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly (PAC) Junaid Akbar.
When announcing the change, the leader of Pti Salman Akram Raja clarified that Gandapur’s decision to resign was voluntary and would allow him to concentrate on his responsibilities as the main minister. Raja highlighted pressing challenges, including the problems of law and order, such as the main reason for change.
PTI rejects ‘misinformation’
In a related development, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said that Imran Khan has rejected the “misinformation” that circulates on the elimination of Gandapur as provincial president of the party.
In statements to journalists outside the Adina prison after meeting Imran Khan, BarrĂster Gohar said that the founder of PTI categorically declared that erroneous concepts were spreading on the transition of leadership in KP.
