Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has named a new senior management team in Europe and plans to significantly expand its presence in the region in 2025, the company said in a press release on Thursday.
Mark Jennings has joined the company as new head of Europe and Daniel Slutzkin has been named head of the UK, Gemini said.
Jennings previously worked at rival exchange Kraken as chief operating officer for European operations. Slutzkin joins from British runner Stake.
Vijay Selvam has taken on the role of international general counsel and will be based in the United Kingdom, the exchange said. Selvam has moved from Gemini’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) team and will be responsible for leading the company’s licensing and regulatory strategy in Europe and the United Kingdom.
The European Union has set a December 30 deadline for its member states to implement MiCA, a set of new rules governing companies providing crypto services in the region.
“Joining the team at this transformative time is a unique opportunity and demonstrates that Gemini takes our commitment to Europe seriously,” Jennings said in the press release.
“Regulatory frameworks in the EU and UK, including MiCA and the FCA’s upcoming crypto roadmap, signal a new era of sustainable growth for digital assets,” he added.
