- Google is implementing new vision features for Gemini Live
- The AI wizard can now “see” the screen of your phone or camera feed
- These updates are driven by Project Astra, the umbrella of Google ai
Google Gemini Live is finally receiving the gift of sight. The technological giant has begun to silently implement characteristics that transform its humble smartphone into an eye that sees everything for its AI assistant.
The new skills were discovered by a Reddit user who later shared a video of the characteristics in action. The update allows Gemini to look through the screen or the camera lens and process what he sees. The deployment marks the debut of the much discussed and long anticipated Astra project.
Based on the video, Gemini’s ‘eyes’ can analyze their real -time screen through a “Share the screen with live” button. Gemini has been able to digest static screenshots, but the update maintains a continuous look on its screen, looking at whatever is on your phone for better or worse.
The other tool makes the camera of your Gemini Eye phone. Google has shown that AI can accurately discern colors and objects. If the final product coincides with the Platonic ideal of demonstrations it is not yet clear.

Astras eyes
The new feature is coming first for advanced Gemini subscribers who pay $ 20 per month for Google One plan with additional ones. However, the deployment is remarkably democratic in the place where the characteristic appears, judging by the Xiaomi phone shown by the Reddit user. Google had previously hinted that the owners of Pixel and Galaxy S25 would have faster or better access to the Astra project.
There are other AI attendees with tools to see similar, but they are mostly linked to third -party applications such as Microsoft Copilot, Chatgpt, Grok and even hugging the new HuggingsNap application of Face. Having a real -time screen and a chamber connection AI incorporated in Android would certainly help attract users interested in an AI assistant to at least Gemini.
And Google’s moment to launch the function is remarkable, since it tries to forge a leadership among the AI attendees. Although Amazon has been promoting its new update “Alexa Plus”, it has not yet arrived.
Meanwhile, the Improved Apple Siri has been delayed several times. That leaves Google with a temporary but very real advantage in the assistant career of AI. Gemini, despite all its first problems and brand change drama (Rip Bard), is now doing things that neither Alexa nor Siri can match at the moment.
Google has promised that the Astra project will be the “next generation assistant” that everyone wants to use all day. So keep your eyes (and Gemini) peeled so that new features arrive in the coming weeks.
