- Gemini in Google leaves can now explain complex formulas in simple English
- The assistant offers reasons step by step of the formulas to help teach users how they work
- The IA wizard can also diagnose and fix broken formulas automatically
If you have ever stared at a Google Sheets formula that spits #ref! Or #Value! Well, now you can ask Gemini for help. Google has updated its AI assistant for the leaves to fix and explain all these formulas, even broken.
Gemini can now not only generate spreadsheet formulas, but explain why they work, or possibly the most important thing, why sometimes they do not. AI will explain it in a simple language when there is an error and how to solve it. You can even correct any wandering element of an equation automatically or provide multiple options if you ask you to configure a formula for a task. No more copy error codes in the search bars or moving through the forum threads.
Let’s say you are trying to calculate the number of people who confirmed “yes” in a list filtered by the postal code, and its formula is blocked. Gemini could explain that the column that refers is formatted as a text instead of dates, or that a range does not match its filters. Then I could offer a corrected formula that works. And if there is more than one way to calculate your answer, you can show multiple formula options.
This type of support is not just for rookies. Even experienced users of the spreadsheet occasionally mistake a range of cells or forget that a column is full of inconsistent data types. Gemini’s new ability to self -diagnose mistakes and explain them offers a security network that allows him to move faster without fear of hidden insects, or worse, what goes through bad taste that goes unnoticed. The explanations are detailed enough to teach, not just patch.
Smart sheets
Google had already begun to embed its AI tools in the leaves, but that was limited to the automation and creation of graphics. Now, Gemini has more than one repair and educator role. Google says that it is part of a continuous effort to make complex workflows more accessible and to put to the AI where people already work.
It also raises bets in the productivity of the arms race. Mainly, that means facing leaves and Gemini against Microsoft’s co -pilot in Excel, but there are also smaller rivals around. But, Gemini’s offer of the formula correction in real time and the explanations of multiple methods establish Google with a specific niche, turning the leaves into a kind of dynamic learning environment instead of just a blank canvas for numbers.
That approach to education is what could make this stick. The Gemini’s ability to explain their formulas as it generates them, gives users the opportunity to understand what they are really doing, instead of only trusting the Black Fund of the AI.
Of course, it is not really magical, and Gemini can still fight with poorly labeled leaves or confusing requests. But being able to use words instead of mathematics or code to describe what you want to do the sheet is potentially a huge time savings. You can say: “I want to count orders of more than $ 50 that occurred last month” and let Gemini discover the logic of the filter and time -based mathematics.
The update is already live for Google Workspace users with Gemini in the Business and Plus standard, business levels, as well as for those who subscribe to the plans AI Pro or Ultra de Google. You can verify if you have the Spark “Ask Gemini” icon in the upper right corner of your sheet.
