Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar on Monday where he met political leaders of various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to discuss ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region .
During the meeting, he emphasized that while adversaries may try to spread fear and instability, Pakistan’s security forces will not retreat and will respond decisively to any efforts aimed at disturbing peace in the country, Express News reported.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, General Munir was received by the Peshawar Corps Commander upon his arrival in the city. He was briefed in detail about the current security situation, including the ongoing counter-terrorism operations against the extremist group “Khawarij” and other threats.
During the visit, the army chief praised the sacrifices and determination of Pakistan army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the country’s security forces had achieved exemplary success in the fight against terrorism, making the nation proud of their efforts.
He highlighted the significant progress made in weakening terrorist groups, with the elimination of key leaders and the destruction of their networks, sending a strong message that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He assured that this fight will continue until its logical conclusion.
General Munir also praised the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding citizens and maintaining law and order. He noted that many attacks were thwarted, which contributed to the stability of the nation.
The head of the Army stressed that each operation carried out by the forces is a testimony of their commitment, professionalism and preparation.
Addressing political leaders, he conveyed a clear message: any attempt to disturb the peace of the country would be met with a decisive and overwhelming response.
He declared: “The enemy may try to sow fear and chaos, but we will not back down. We will deal with the hostile elements with an iron fist and they will suffer heavy losses.”
COAS Munir also expressed his appreciation for the high morale of Pakistan Army personnel and highlighted their unwavering determination to protect the sovereignty of the nation.
He maintained that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies are united as an invincible force in the country’s fight against terrorism.
After his visit to the military installations, General Munir met with political leaders of different parties. The leaders agreed on the need for a unified political voice and public support in the fight against terrorism.
They expressed their unwavering commitment to supporting the military and law enforcement agencies in the country’s war against terrorism and recognized that overcoming extremist ideologies required political unity, transcending partisan lines.
