George Mason establishes a baseball record of Division I of the NCAA

The Holy Cross crusaders baseball team had an intensive course with the old saying: “When it rains, it is poured,” on Tuesday in a game against the George Mason Patriots.

George Mason broke a record of division I of the 42-year-old NCAA when the team scored 23 races in the second entrance of his 26-6 victory over Holy Cross. The Patriots sent 28 batters to the plate at the entrance and 19 batters after Holy Cross took out the first from the entrance.

There were two races more than the previous D-1 record, which was established by the Quakers Penn in 1983 and coincided with the Wichita State Shockers in 1984 and the Valparaíso Crusaders in 2010.

Holy Cross used five pitchers at the entrance, and two of them could not record an exit. George Mason’s first year receiver, Andrew Raymond, doubled, walked and recorded three races promoted at the entrance.

The school pointed out that the team record for most races in a game is 36. The Patriots, ironically, established the record against Holy Cross in March 1996.

Holy Cross obtained three races in the fourth entrance and scored three more races between the sixth and the seventh inning before the game ended.

The Patriots moved to 8-4 with the victory and the Crusaders fell to 5-5.
