Gerrit Cole needs Tommy John surgery, missing the 2025 mlb season

The New York Yankees announced that Ace’s holder Gerrit Cole will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a UCL torn in his release side.

As such, Cole will miss the entire 2025 MLB season, the worst case that the team was preparing after feeling discomfort in the elbow after its second spring training output.

Cole dealt with a last spring elbow ailment, but could return for 17 regular seasonal beginnings and, more importantly, anchor a postseason rotation on the way to the World Series.
