Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo caused some consternation after Saturday night’s game, immediately following their 112-103 win over the Chicago Bulls.
Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 29 points, but the final two points of the game in the final seconds is what sparked their opponents. The two-time MVP dribbled the ball down the court and dunked before time expired.

Bulls players were unhappy with the Bucks star and confronted him after the game. The pushing and shoving continued as Bucks and Bulls players left their benches to break up the fight. Tensions nearly exploded when the two teams returned to the locker room.
“I’m no painter, but you get the idea,” Antetokounmpo wrote in X accompanied by an image of his slam.
He told reporters that the dunk was supposed to be a message intended for his players.
“We’re 11th in the East,” Antetokounmpo said, via ESPN. “We have to keep finding an identity. And if that gets a little complicated at the end, so be it. We’re not champions. Why should we play until the time limit and have respect and fair play? We’re fighting for our lives right now.”

It was Antetokounmpo’s first game since suffering a calf strain. He missed eight games. He said the focus will be on being healthy from now on.
Bulls guard Coby White was among those upset with Antetokounmpo.
“I shouldn’t have dunked the ball,” White said. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I told him, ‘Bro, you’re better than that.’ It’s game over. Why do you have to do that? It’s a matter of respect.”
It is at this point in the season when victories matter most. Teams like the Bucks and Bulls, who are afloat in the Eastern Conference, cannot afford to wait to start their engines after the All-Star break.

The Bulls are ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 15-16 record. Milwaukee is in 11th place with a 13-19 record. Teams like the Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets could surprise and surpass those teams in a few weeks. They cannot take anything for granted.
