The massive shooting of New York City on Monday has hit home for sports fans.
Mayor Eric Adams said at a press conference on Tuesday that the shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, seemed to have attacked the National Soccer League. The shooting occurred in the same building as the headquarters of the League in Manhattan.
The New York Giants and the Jets play their games at home a few kilometers from the offices of the League, and the chief coaches of both teams offered condolences.

“All of you saw what happened in 345 Park Ave. Tragic. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people affected in that tragedy, here with the giants,” said the chief coach of the giants, Brian Daboll, in the training camp on Tuesday.
The chief coach of the Jets, Aaron Glenn, added: “He would like it to be a better morning. What happened yesterday at the League office, as an organization, our thoughts and prayers are with all the families. It is always difficult to listen to things like that and really try to stay focused. But you have to do it because you have to do a job. But you think of the families that go through that, and it is difficult.
A spokesman for the New York Police Department confirmed Pak Gazette Digital that Tamura had mentioned the NFL in a “suicide note” written by hand, claiming that CTE had.
The National Association of Football League (NFLPA) players issued a statement at dawn on Tuesday morning about the shooting that killed four people, including a New York police officer.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred yesterday in New York City. 345 Park Avenue is part of our football family, and we in the NFLPA extend our sincere condolences and support for the people who work in this building and the families of those who lost their lives,” said the NFLPA. “We also want to express our deep gratitude to the personnel of application of the law and emergency that responded to the impacted.”
Adams said the shooter was trying to reach the NFL headquarters, but took the wrong elevator bank.
An NFL employee was “seriously injured” in the shooting, said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, in a memorandum to NFL employees obtained by Pak Gazette Digital.

The shooter was found dead on the 33rd floor, where he also killed another woman, of a self -inflicted gunshot wound. The New York police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, said that Tamura had a history of mental health problems.
