- Gigabyte aorus rtx 5060 ti ai box packs surprising desk level power with an RTX 5060 Ti Ti
- Backward compatibility ensures that USB4 users are not excluded from updates
- The Windforce cooling system can face noise challenges in said compact housing
Gigabyte has launched the Aorus RTX 5060 Ti AI box, a solution of compact external graphics aimed at professionals looking for a desktop degree GPU performance on portable devices.
Presented at its online event Beyond Edge, this device measures 117 x 243 x 45 mm, which makes it closer to a hardcover dictionary than voluminous enclosures generally associated with external GPUs.
According to Gigabyte, the RTX 5060 TI AI box provides greater graphic capabilities to laptops and mini PC Premium.
Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and bandwidth considerations
Admits Thunderbolt 5 with PCIE 4.0 X4 yield, which Gigabyte says that it offers a bandwidth only 5% below a PCIE 4.0 X16 desktop.
While this suggests a response capacity close to waste, the adoption of Thunderbolt 5 remains limited to selected mobile work station and high -end notebooks.
Users restricted to USB4 ports are not far behind, since the enclosure maintains compatibility with previous versions.
It can also work with graphics integrated in Project G-Assist to distribute workloads.
Unlike most external enclosures that depend on mobile Radeon chips, Gigabyte equipped this device with a geforce RTX 5060 desktop Ti with 16 GB of memory.
This doubles the VRM compared to the typical 8GB alternatives, which makes it stronger for video edition or other demanding tasks.
The inclusion of the wind force cooling system is aimed at maintaining stable temperatures, although it remains to be seen if it can maintain silent operation within such a small chassis.
The use of Nvidia Blackwell architecture and the DLSS 4 support offers the box modern acceleration and acceleration characteristics.
Beyond gross performance, the Aorus RTX 5060 TI AI box doubles as an coupling solution.
It includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, Ethernet networks, PD 3.0 load and margaritas chain functionality for additional Thunderbolt 5 peripherals.
The RGB lighting and an enlightened Aorus logo add an aesthetic touch, but for professionals, the real question is whether the device can reliably replace a fixed desktop configuration in everyday workflows.
Gigabyte has not announced a launch date or a retail price for the Aorus RTX 5060 ti ai box.
However, the choice of a complete desktop GPU with 16 GB of memory instead of a reduced mobile part suggests that it will be located above the $ 460 MSRP of the GeForce RTX 5060 ti standard desktop card.
