The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, requested on Wednesday to the United Nations Security Council (Consume) that urgently pursues a high immediate, permanent and unconditional fire in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory.

“Gaza has become a cemetery for innocent lives, as well as for international law, particularly international humanitarian law,” he said. “More than 58,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in the brutal military assault of Israel,” he added.

Dar highlighted the worsening of the food crisis in the besieged enclave, citing UN figures that show that one third of the population of Gaza goes several days without eating, an indicator of catastrophic levels of food insecurity.

By calling the Palestinian problem a “fire test” for the credibility of the United Nations and the Security Council, he warned that not defending the rights of the Palestinian people would be emboldened would impunity and weaken the legitimacy of the international order based on the rules.

Give reaffirmed the support of Pakistan’s principles to the Palestinian cause, reiterating Islamabad’s call for the establishment of a viable, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state along the borders prior to 1967, with al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital. This, he said, remains the only fair and lasting solution backed by the Security Council and the resolutions of the General Assembly, the Arab Peace Initiative and the consensus position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He underlined the need for urgent humanitarian access through Gaza, emphasizing the importance of safe, sustained and obstacles to civilians. He added that protection for humanitarian workers, medical staff and personnel of the UN must also be guaranteed.

Giving asked for immediate steps to restore help supply lines and prevent the famine from taking over the besieged territory. He also urged the international community to strengthen support for UNRWA, the UN agency responsible for helping Palestinian refugees, which described as indispensable for the survival of millions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs demanded the end of forced displacement of Palestinians, as well as the continuous expansion of illegal settlements and the annexation of the occupied territory, particularly in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. He warned that such actions were directly contravention of international law and risked to further destabilize the region.

Highlighting the importance of recovery and rehabilitation after conflict in Gaza, the Arab Reconstruction Plan and directed by IIC as a vital framework for reconstructing livelihoods, restoring dignity and allowing sustainable long -term development.

DPM also requested the resurgence of a genuine political process and linked in time for a fair, comprehensive and lasting solution of two states in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

In broader regional matters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan supported Syria’s stabilization through an inclusive political process. He asked Israel to immediately withdraw from the separation zone established under the 1974 disconnection agreement and the heights of Golan Syria occupied, in line with the resolutions of the UNSC 242, 338 and 497.

Referring to Lebanon, he said that resolution 1701 and the understanding of the high fire must be confirmed, while the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country must be respected. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the peace process led by UNU in Yemen and praised the roles of Saudi Arabia and Oman to facilitate dialogue.

Give welcomed a growing international impulse for Palestinian state and the complete members of the UN, reiterating Pakistan’s support for such efforts. He said that the time had come to give the Palestinian people what had been denied for a long time: justice, freedom, dignity and their own state. This, he added, was the only way to peace and lasting stability in the Middle East.
