GIVE asks for a more solid association of an OIC to address global challenges

United Nations: the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has requested a closer cooperation between the United Nations and the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) to promote peace, fight against growing religious hatred and defend the rights of oppressed people around the world.

Speaking as President of the UN Security Council, give pronounced Pakistan’s statement during special information on “cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations to maintain international peace and security: the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)”.

He described the IIC as a vital bridge that connects international and regional efforts, and aligning political objectives with humanitarian needs.

The OIC, he said, stands out not only for its great membership but for its clear principles, including respect for sovereignty, human dignity and justice.

“The legitimacy of the OIC derives not only from its vast and diverse membership, but from the clarity mainly of its mandate: to defend justice, protect human dignity, respect national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all member states and advance solidarity between nations,” he subscribed.

Dar warned about the growing threat of extremism and Islamophobia, saying that such hate goes against the spirit of the UN Letter. He emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation to counteract this trend.

“Religious hatred is not only morally indefensible, but also hits the base of the UN letter,” he emphasized.

He also praised the long -standing support of the UIC to the Palestinian cause and the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as with the end of the prolonged illegal occupation by India.

The minister also appreciated the positive role of IIC in supporting peace efforts in Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Sahel and beyond.

He requested the end of what he described as the illegal occupation of India Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for self -determination in both regions.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the consensus of the Security Council on a presidential statement, which he would help to deepen the ties between the UN and the IIC and support his shared work in conflict areas from Libya to Sahel.
