The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar, requested on Wednesday an inclusive dialogue and a cooperative diplomacy on confrontation in the midst of times of growing turbulence worldwide as “the cost of unresolved disputes, long -term conflicts, unilateral actions and the disorder of international law feel in all regions.”
In his speech delivered at the reception organized by Pakistan’s mission in New York on the occasion of the UN Pakistan’s presidency of the UN Security Council, the DPM emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment with multilateralism, the resolution of peaceful disputes and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
Speaking with diplomats, UN officials and representatives of the Member States, Dar stressed that in the heart of Pakistan’s foreign policy was a firm belief in multilateralism and the government of international law. “The purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, especially the Pacific Dispute Agreement and the non -use or threat of force, are fundamental to the United Nations and indispensable by a fair international order,” he said.
“The Security Council must be seen not only as a reaction chamber but as a prevention forum, problem solving and leadership of principles,” he said.
By reaffirming the active diplomatic commitment of Pakistan, the Vice Prime Minister said that the country is still committed to working with partners from all over the world to advance the shared objectives of peace, development and human rights.
