Glen Powell got his advice and warnings about action heroes from living legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Powell, who plays Ben Richards in the film, contacted Arnold before starring in the dystopian action thriller. The running man, which is a remake of the 1987 original starring terminator actor.

At the film’s premiere in New York City, the Twisters actor revealed what action stars told him about doing such a movie, saying, “It was fun talking to Schwarzenegger the other day. He was so excited, but he told me, he said… And every one of my friends who’s been in action movies told me [me] this. They were like, ‘I don’t think you realize that going and being in front of an action movie’ (again, in this movie, the whole world is chasing this guy), I would tell them the premise. They say, ‘Oh, that will be, that will be something.’ That’s going to be intense.’ And it’s true.”

“Doing it well, doing one of these movies well, and I’m really very proud of what we did in this movie… It’s very, it’s very physical. It’s very emotional, it’s all those things,” Powell explained.

In April, the actor revealed that he and director Edgar Wright had Arnold’s blessing to remake the film. He Command star gave them his blessing since The running man it remained “the only film I ever wanted to see remade of my films.”

“So this one really stepped it up and did exactly that. The action was amazing and creative,” Arnold said.

The running man is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King that follows a bloody television show where men are hunted and the winner takes home a big prize.
