GMKTEC, a Mini PC manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China, has launched its new flagship device, the EVO-X2.
The company says that the debut of the product, which had the first unit personally signed by Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, attracted great interest, with hundreds of units sold through its official website the first day.
In response, GMKTEC has changed to high march, triggering what he calls “emergency production protocols” to meet this early demand.
First come, first served
Gmktec shared a rare photo from inside his factory (see image of the header) that shows ranks of the amd Ryzen Ai Max+ 395 units that are subjected to final aging tests, each equipped with RGB cooling fans.
This test stage helps to verify the stability of the system in a continuous operation before shipping and is part of its standard quality control process, designed to ensure that the mini PCs are kept in real world workloads.
The EVO-X2 is built around the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, which is manufactured in the TSMC Finfet 4NM process. It has 16 nuclei and 32 threads and can reach speeds of up to 5.1 GHz.
This high performance processor includes an AI engine based on the XDNA 2 AMD architecture, capable of delivering up to 50 tops only from the NPU. GMKTEC states that the chip achieves up to 2.2 times the AI performance of a NVIDIA RTX 4090 in LM Studio, while consume less power.
The mini PC is aimed at creators, hybrid professionals and players. Memory options include LPDDR5X of 64 GB or 128 GB, and storage options are reduced up to 16 TB with dual slots m.2. The video output supports resolutions of up to 7680 × 4320 to 60Hz.
EVO-X2 offers a wide range of ports, which include HDMI, Displayport, USB4, multiple USB-A connections, an Ethernet connector of 2.5 Gy audio shots of 3.5 mm front and rear. Admit Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
