Karachi:
Soldier Bazaar’s police arrested Munir Mehdi, aka Gol Gappa, a fugitive sought in multiple cases of fraud that involve the deception of unveiled citizens with false promises of employment abroad.
According to Sho Ps Bazaar Waqar Azeem soldier, Mehdi had been fostering in several cases registered against him at the Soldier Bazaar, Firozabad and Baloch Colony police stations. Supposedly scammed millions of rupees of young people eager to ensure work abroad, offering them opportunities manufactured in Qatar, Dubai, Australia, Canada and the United States.
Police revealed that Mehdi and his gang operated throughout the city, pointing to unsuspecting victims with dreams of a better future. It would require early payments ranging from RS1.5 million to RS3 million of each victim, in exchange for fraudulent employment.
To look credible, he signed false agreements in false stamps documents and issued counterfeit checks.
Once he received the payments, Mehdi hid for months, leaving his victims stranded. In the last two years, countless complaints have been filed against them, and several victims approach the agencies of application of the law for justice. The sources indicate that Mehdi’s arrest can lead to crucial revelations about his network and other accomplices. Police suspect that his gang remains active in Karachi, continuing to attract new victims.
