Xander Schauffele will not participate in the Procore championship with his Ryder Cup teammates for a good reason. He is at home with his newborn son.
Shauffele, 31, told Associated Press that his wife, Maya, recently gave birth to a child they called Victor.
Schauffele had an excellent 2024 season, when he won the PGA championship and the open.

California’s native has not seen the same success this season. Schauffele lost a couple of months at the beginning of the season with a rib injury.
He has maintained his streak of not missing a cut of 36 holes, and has made 71 cuts in a row, but did not win a tournament this season. Schauffele was within the top 10 in two of the four specialties this season, the masters and the open, but it was not within the first five.
Schauffele automatically qualified for the United States Ryder Cup team due to its success in 2024. It will be its third time in the Ryder Cup.

Schauffele and Bryson Dechambeau are the only two members of the United States Ryder Cup team that do not participate in the Procore Championship. Dechambeau does not participate because he is not a member of the PGA tour.
Shauffele told the AP last month that he was not sure to play in Napa, California, mainly depending on when the baby would be born and because he needed a break from the routine.

“If I don’t think playing help me, then I won’t play,” he said in the BMW championship.
The Ryder Cup begins on September 26, when the United States will seek to take revenge on the European team for its loss of 2023 in Bethpage Black.
