Google Cloud has announced an important association with the United Kingdom government that will help the country to get rid of aging technology systems.
Announced in Google Cloud Summit London of the company, the agreement will seek to help the United Kingdom government to update a series of inherited technology, some of which have decades of seniority, to unlock up to $ 45 billion in efficiency savings.
The association will seek to modernize the common use services of the NHS, together with the tools of the local council, which covers everything, from the collection of containers to the tax statements.
So long “ball and chain”
Speaking at the summit, the Secretary of Technology Peter Kyle said that the agreement will seek to provide an important update in public sector services in the United Kingdom, where it is estimated that more than one in four systems will be executed in inherited technology. This jumps to 70% in some police and trust forces of the NHS, sometimes in signed contracts decades ago.
He pointed out how in some areas, the technology used has decades of age, leaving these organizations at risk of attacking or cyber interruptions, and which means that workers lack the efficiency and productivity gains offered by the newest technology.
Google Cloud expects your help to help government agencies to abandon these “ball and chain” technological contracts, where suppliers have often made it too difficult to transfer data to modern systems, with some companies that walk prices while the taxpayer is locked in contracts.
“With more practical support, I can’t wait to see what our two teams offer together,” Kyle added.
Looking towards the future, Google Cloud will also help the United Kingdom government to explore the use of technology, such as quantum computing within the public sector, as well as to investigate the development of a single platform to monitor and keep the public sector safe from the latest cyber security threats.
“Google Cloud is proud to be a strategic partner of the United Kingdom government while embarking on this ambitious digital transformation,” said Tara Brady, president of Google Cloud Emea.
“As the country evolves, the flexibility of Google Cloud will help the government lead the AI era.”
Google Cloud will also help boost workers within the United Kingdom government, with a new training program that sees 100,000 officials obtaining additional help with AI and other new technologies by 2030.
