- Samsung has announced a new refrigerator powered by AI
- It is the first time we will see Gemini in an appliance
- AI should save money and reduce food waste
AI chatbots continue to make their way into more and more devices, and Google Gemini is now heading to refrigerators: it will appear in the new Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub that Samsung will introduce at CES 2026 in January.
According to Samsung (via Android Authority), placing the Gemini inside the new refrigerator will “simplify daily tasks” and “improve the overall kitchen experience,” and based on some video demonstrations, this could be something you’ll want to have in your kitchen.
Gemini will be able to take advantage of a small camera inside the refrigerator to recognize the types of food and the amount you have. From there you can get advice on what dishes you can prepare, what you need to buy, and when food might start to go bad.
Samsung has already integrated this AI Vision into some of its refrigerators, but with Gemini on board, the new model will be able to recognize a wider variety of foods with greater accuracy, as well as provide smarter answers to your queries.
Voice control and power usage.

The onboard AI will also enable voice control, so you can politely ask the fridge to open its doors if your hands are full, and it will even manage energy usage by adjusting the interior cooling to match how the fridge is used and fueled.
This all sounds positive and should mean less food waste and lower electricity bills. You can see some of the features described in the demo video above, although it mentions Bixby somewhat confusingly, so a rebranding may be necessary there.
Samsung has also announced that Google Gemini is coming to a new personalized AI wine cellar, which is based on similar ideas: AI can tag and track your bottles, directing you to the perfect bottle for each meal.
CES 2026 will take place from January 6 to 9 and, as usual, will take place in Las Vegas. We’ll see a host of new gadgets and appliances at the event, as top tech companies show off their products for next year.
