- Google I/O 2025 is configured for May 20 to May 21
- The I/O generally covers a lot of land, but we expect great updates on Gemini
- I/O 2024 brought us Gemini, Astra Project, a Sora competitor and more
Well, Google continues with its tendency to establish the event months in advance. And if you have been interested in learning more about Project Astra, perhaps a future pixel device, or simply more and more about Gemini, Google I/or 2025 is configured for May 20 and May 21. Where? Well, of course, it is in Mountainview, California, at the Shoreline amphitheater.
We can expect the main main note to occur on the first day, on May 20, 2025, and one of the best parts of the annual Google developers conference is that you never really know what you can see. Last year we were treated until hours on Google Gemini, AI, a little on the Android platform and a mockery at the end for Project Astra. We were even practical with that and later in 2024 we got Google Gemini live.
The good thing is that Google will transmit live the key note and the fireside chats of smaller developers and, the best part, Techradar will be on the ground to provide the latter as it happens. It also happens that the Google event is in the middle of the Build Conference of Microsoft, which is established from May 19 to May 22 in Seattle, Washington.
Since this invitation has just arrived at our entrance tray, and this story is developing, here is a brief list of what we could see its debut in the 2025 I/O.
- The next version of Google Gemini
- An update on Project Astra
- Android 16 debut
- A look at future Pixel devices
- Potentially a drop of next generation, the generative video of Google
- New features for Google Photos and all G-Suite
And that is really just the tip of the iceberg, since Google usually treats the key note of I/O as an opportunity to show the latest technology, and sometimes the technology that is really there only to obtain a reaction of the crowd. However, a sure thing is that AI will be the center of attention and will get a lot of air during the key note.
We saw Google apart from the Gemini era last year, and it is likely that the company will be making even more updates for its main suite. He has also been launching a constant flow of updates for Gemini since, with 2.0 and some later models such as Gemini 2.0 Flash, dropped earlier this month. Google is likely to need to keep up with the strong competition of Operai, Microsoft tastes and even the newcomer Depseek.
Indeed, before May 20, it advances, and the main note of Google I/O: Google will launch even more updates for Gemini, Android and its other products. Who knows, we could even see the debut of Google Pixel 9a before that.
