- Google exhibited a new hardware at the Made By Google event
- This includes a mysterious intelligent speaker that we have not seen before
- Could materialize in an event in a few months
The Google event of August 20, 2025 gave us a lot of new hardware to delight, including (of course) the new Google Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro Android smartphones. But in a fast segment (it is not a segment that is not and you ‘LLS-it), we glimpse an intelligent Google speaker not announced.
The showcase was full of cameos, and in one of those exhibitions full of stars, we saw the Formula Pilot one Lando Norris and the NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo exchanged places, and we use Gemini’s advice to better address the sport of the other.
Pixel 10 phones appeared, and Norris also used a new mini speaker with Gemini.
As you can see in the image above, the device is not like something that Google is currently: our audio editor Becky Scarrott described its appearance as “as a HomePod mini in a Google dress but with a ring of echo points around the lower part”, which summarizes it perfectly.
It also seems to possess the reasoning powers of Google Gemini depending on how it was used, which suggests that it could be launched as part of Gemini for the home update that Google has promised.
While Gemini’s update is also promised for existing speakers and smart screens, it certainly makes sense that Google wants to update its alignment with a new hardware.
We have not had a new hardware from the Google Nest Hub (second generation) in 2021, and before that, the last Nest speaker we obtained was the Google Nest audio, which simply adjusts on our best list of smart speakers (but mainly because it is the best for Google).
So we are very late for an update, and it seems that Google is ready to deliver one in the not too distant future.
Most likely we see something “in autumn” (so September to November), since it is when Google has promised an important update, which should also solve the many complaints that Nest users have about their devices.
