- Google Calendar finally has a native application for watchos
- However, Google also just got Google Keep for Apple Watch
- Now there are only three Google applications for Watchos
It is fair to say that the support of the Google application for Apple Watch is not the most integral, so the arrival of a new Google calendar application for Apple wearables would normally be something to celebrate, only the Google Keep application has disappeared at the same time.
The arrival of the Google calendar was seen by the team at 9to5google. It is a fairly basic application, but does the job: you get a week of events, in addition to the current Google tasks, and color coding is transferred from the main application.
You cannot create new events or reminders of Apple Watch, but there are two available complications, to show the next appointment and the current date. In fact, it seems to be almost an exact coincidence for Google calendar in Wear OS.
9to5google also reported that Google’s news is still taken from Watchos. That takes the amount of official Google applications in the Apple Watch back to three, with Google Maps and YouTube Music the other two.
Users are losing, again
It is disappointing to see that Google Keep is no longer available for Apple Watch, because it is the type of application to which you want access to a slide. However, it may not be a surprise: the Watchos version of the application had not been updated for years.
And it is a shame that Google is so reluctant to put its applications in the Apple laptop. Without a doubt, I would prefer that people would go with Android and use operating system, but Google applications for the iPhone are some of the best in business and are constantly updated.
That means that the millions of users with an iPhone and an Apple Watch are being lost when it comes to obtaining information about their Google application on their wrists. It is more likely to push the masses to Apple’s own applications, instead of Android.
Perhaps the arrival of the Google calendar for Watchos is an indication that Google Keep will soon return in a new and improved way, perhaps to coincide with the deployment of Watchos 26 later in the year, but we are not going to endure our breathing.
