- In addition to making space for more Gemini, Google has been updating its service to share photos and videos
- One of the new features includes the integration of Google Photos into the Gemini application
- While one of the features is still a rumor, we hope it will be implemented soon
It is an busy and certainly interesting time for Google at this time, and it is not just because Gemini is slowly seizing. While the company is doubling the integration of Gemini in all services, it takes the time to seriously update other platforms under its wide umbrella: Google Photos is one of them.
Just when Google Messages has been testing some useful updates, the company has not forgotten its photo and storage exchange software, which has also received its fair part of updates and new features, large and small. Two of them are very recent deployment for Google, and although the third is just speculation from now on, we hope to see that it comes to fruition in the near future.
Google Photos gets Gemini’s integration into Android
In October 2024, Google Photos released ‘Ask photos’, a gemini fed search tool that allows you to use natural language questions to filter through its gallery in the photos application. With this new integration, Android users can connect it to Google Photos and find photos within the Gemini application.
According to 9to5google, there are two sides for this new integration, the first that allows you to find images and videos based on the following:
- Your faces and relationships saved on Google Photos
- The location / date took a photo / video
- A description of what is in a photo
- Conversation with the Gemini application
For example, you can use indications such as ‘Find my photos of Alex’, ‘Show me recent selfies’ and ‘Show my photos of my most recent trip’. The second part allows you to ask about specific details in your photos and videos, such as ‘What are the 10 main things we saw on our last trip?’ – Similar to the Ask Photos function in the Google Photos application.
Dark mode for the web version of Google Photos
Whether you use Google Photos or not, you probably use dark way settings on other platforms; For me, you always turn on when I am using YouTube or Tiktok. For a while, Dark Mode was exclusive to the mobile application of Google Photos, but only a few weeks ago, Google finally brought it to the web version.
It is a small update for Google Photos, but that will be very popular among users safely. You can activate the dark mode for Google Photos on the web very easily:
- Go to Photos.google.com on your web browser
- Click Configuration and then enter the Appearance Section
- From there, you can select your choice of different options, including light, darkness or use of the predetermined device
Google Photos got a great redesign
While this is still speculated, it could be a great design review and one that could make the administration of its photo library a bit softer.
First we saw this a few weeks ago after a leak shared by Android Authority, which pointed out possible changes that we could see in the future, one of which shows that the heading ‘Today’ no longer has a verification mark next to it, but with what seems like a filter icon. In addition, the escape shows a floating search bar instead of the usual photos of photos and search eyelashes.
