- Pixel Watch Users Report Bugs in Fitbit App After Latest Update
- These include inaccuracies in steps and calorie counts, as well as mileage.
- Neither Google nor Fitbit have solved the problems
Has the Fitbit app on your Pixel Watch been working for you recently? Don’t worry, you’re not alone, because it turns out other users have experienced similar errors.
Online users have been pointing out problems with step counting, calorie tracking and other fitness metrics, claiming that the readings do not match their real-time activity. These issues have become more common since Google released the latest Pixel Watch update a few weeks ago.
At first, some health tracking issues were reported, such as the skin temperature tool, but the issue persisted and now more users are pointing out broader data tracking issues with Fitbit’s most popular features, the main one being step counting. In a Reddit post, Pixel Watch owners claim their step count is more than double the actual number of daily steps they take, and one user said they took 14,000 steps just by sitting at a desk.

The author of the post revealed that the advice they received from Google support was to perform a factory reset of their watch and although other users have claimed that this can work, the problems resume as soon as they sync their watch with their phone. Another user shared that when they raised it with Google’s support team, they completely ignored the issues.
However, the problems with step counting are just the beginning and have also led to inaccuracies in mileage and calories: one user noted that although his step count seemed normal, his calorie count doubled despite not having exercised. These errors are more than just a simple application error; They interfere with your tracking objectives and affect the performance of metrics designed to alert you to changes in your regimen.
When it comes to features like SpO2 readings and skin temperature, these metrics help you identify trends and changes in your health, so they depend on consistency. Inaccurate and inconsistent step count readings mean they will not reflect the reality of how much you are moving and will therefore present false skin temperature and blood oxygen levels.
As things stand, neither Google nor Fitbit have commented on these issues, addressed how they arose, or how they are working to resolve them. So, like you, we’re also waiting with uncertainty until both companies find a solution, but we’ve reached out for comment and will update this story when we know more.
