Obtaining an update of the TV operating system sometimes feels like going to a restaurant where the chef is a psychopath: its dish will come with the best ingredients cooked perfectly, but there will be something indescribable about its fillet. Android 16 update for Google TV seems a bit like that.
The update, which will reach Google TV this year, will bring Android 16 to compatible televisions and will include some really useful improvements. It will also include what could be quite irritating.
What to expect from the Android Google TV update
One of the most important new features is the support for Eclipsa Audio, the highly anticipated rival of Dolby Atmos promoted by Google and Samsung. To start, you will arrive in YouTube, and companies expect the industry in general to be adopted as another immersive audio option.
Another new useful addition is the MediaqualityManager, which is designed to give transmission applications the ability to adjust the configuration of its television. This is an equivalent throughout the system to the specific characteristics of the application, such as Prime Video CalibrateD mode, which currently allows the owners of some Sony Bravia televisions automatically optimize their TV configuration for the Prime Video or the film program that are about to see, so it will adjust the brightness, the color of the color and the softest of movement.
Having it available in the operating system should mean more transmission applications that offer a calibration option, and calibration is available on more televisions.
Google’s AI from Gemini will launch Google TVS in autumn, which will allow you to request film recommendations or get information about your TV’s things.
There is also a visual update, with the update offered by the last iteration of the Google interface, called expressive material. It is not a great redesign, but it is a clearer and more modern aspect.
Those are the first four, and Google says that there will also be several improvements for media management, including reproduction speed, consistency and efficiency, and there will also be a better HDMI-CEC reliability. And Google TV will bring to Android XR, it is a virtual/augmented reality platform, so application developers will be able to take their applications to the effortless platform (although it is likely that some, such as Netflix, will opt).
The chocolate bar in the Android TV update pool is the arrival of emerging qualification applications. Do you know those annoying emerging windows of “qualifying this application” on your phone? Google is allowing application manufacturers to take them to their television as well.
There is still no launch date for Android TV 16, and as always with this type of update, some manufacturers are likely to be implemented faster than others.
As soon as we know the launch dates probably, we will notify you. You can see the complete list of features and changes on the Android Developers website. (through Flatpanelshd)
