- The improvements are directed to the Google Home application
- House foods should be more reliable and faster
- Updates are being implemented for Android and iOS devices
It has not been the best of the moments for the Google Home ecosystem, with a crescendo of complaints of users that rise about devices and applications with errors in recent weeks. Google now is at least bringing some improvements to the Google Home application for Android and iOS, connected to cameras and nests.
In a publication some apology in the Google Nest Community message boards, a Nest team member describes the improvements. While the mistakes informed with Google Smart Home Kit are not approached directly, they are alluded to.
“We also wanted to take a moment to thank everyone,” says the publication. “While we may not always get to the brand, we remain committed to listening to our users and building intuitive, reliable and high -performance camera functions for your home.”
If you have a nest camera of some description, here are five of the most notable updates that are directed to their path.
1. faster previous views
The previous views of the camera will now show an image in cache from a previous live view: although it means that the view can be slightly outdated until it is completely loaded, it means that you can identify which camera is more quickly if you have several configurations in the application.
2. Improved gestures
The gestures have been simplified, so it can now change between the timeline and the views of events with a single slip. The expansion and collapse of live views, and the download of camera foods are also controlled with a single slip, which makes it easier to move through the application.
3. Better notifications
Previous notification views have also been improved, so both in Android and in iOS will see a static miniature along with a great animated preview: the intention is that you have a better idea of what the alert is about without having to open the Google Home application.
4. Accurate reports
Google says that the Google Home application is now better to report whether your cameras are online or offline, so the state of each camera knows at all times. The same optimizations under the capo should mean that live broadcast performance is also better.
5. Soft performance
Speaking of performance, the additional adjustments made by the Google Home team will reduce latency, reduce the probability of “available video” errors and ensure that camera transmissions can be recovered more quickly when they go out and then turn on again.
These improvements are in addition to the previous updates added by the Google team, which they also mention in the same publication: they include greater clarity for the videos, a more perfect timeline experience and a quick search feature to jump through video clips.
In addition to these software improvements, it looks a lot like a new hardware on the way, since four new Nest devices have recently leaked. Despite many tests otherwise, it seems that Google may not have forgotten the smart house after all.
