Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equip Pakistan’s young people with modern digital skills, saying that all possible support is being provided to boost their technological experience.

He made these comments while presiding over a review meeting at LaHore on Sunday with respect to an initiative to train 300,000 young people in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in collaboration with Huawei Technologies. Huawei representatives also attended the session.

The meeting evaluated the progress of the agreements signed with Huawei in China last year and discussed strategies to expand the training of digital skills throughout the country.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that young people play a crucial role in the impulse of technological progress, adding that the ICT training program would not only improve IT exports but also create employment opportunities.

Under the initiative, Huawei will train the young Pakistani in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing and other advanced technologies. Until now, 20,315 students have completed training under the program.

The officials informed the Prime Minister to launch a ICT training portal to provide online learning access to the participants. Sharif instructed the authorities to guarantee the rapid implementation of the initiative and make the portal widely accessible.

He also directed that the program was extended to all provinces, including Azad Cashmiro and Gilgit-Baltistan, to maximize their scope.

Huawei representatives reaffirmed their commitment to launch advanced training programs in Pakistan and train local master trainers to train young people at the base level.
