The Government will establish separate immigration counters for foreign passengers in all international airports, a government statement said on Saturday to a measure aimed at promoting tourism and investment.
The initiative, presented on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is designed to promote tourism, guarantee the flow without trade problems and facilitate foreign investment.
The authorities said that dedicated counters will help reduce immigration processing times, making trips more convenient for international visitors. The agreement is also expected to shorten the procedures to return to Pakistani citizens, since passenger flows will separate.
“This measure is part of the broader government strategy to make Pakistan more attractive and cozy for international tourists, investors and commercial delegations,” said an official statement.
The government has recently intensified efforts to improve infrastructure and rationalize travel procedures to position Pakistan as a more competitive destination in the region.
