ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has decided to implement a digital fuel management system at gasoline pumps across the country. Under this system, a gasoline quota for private vehicles will be introduced to manage a possible fuel crisis.

The decision comes in light of the ongoing war in the Middle East, and authorities are preparing contingency measures to deal with any disruption to oil supplies.

Under the proposed system, gasoline pumps will be equipped with digital tools and citizens will be allocated a fixed quota of fuel for their personal vehicles. The Ministry of Information Technology has completed testing of mobile phones that will be installed at petrol pumps for the system.

An application developed for fuel management has also been successfully tested. The IT Ministry has sent the complete details of the project to the Cabinet Division for final approval.
