Government promises to make passengers friendly

Islamabad:

Federal Railroad Minister Hanif Abbasi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transform Pakistan railways into a modern, reliable and friendly mode of transport for passengers.

“Efforts are being made to make the railroad a reliable and preferred travel mode,” he said while making a visit not announced to the Margalla railway station.

The minister evaluated the general facilities and committed directly to passengers and staff.

During his visit, Abbasi conducted a detailed inspection of cleaning arrangements in the premises of the station and expressed his satisfaction with the staff’s efforts.

He instructed the station authorities to ensure that high standards of hygiene and sanitation are constantly maintained.

He personally inspected each train coach parked on the platform, evaluating the conditions and facilities on board provided to the passengers.

He also took the time to interact with travelers, carefully listening to his complaints and suggestions regarding rail services.

The minister maintained discussions with the railway personnel on the quality of the service and several operational challenges.

He also reviewed the progress of the current development projects aimed at updating the infrastructure of the Margalla station.

The minister announced plans to introduce recreational facilities at the Margalla station and said that specially designed public restaurants are also under consideration as part of the future development of the station.

Last month, it was reported that Pakistan railroads have faced serious problems to ensure that soft train operations throughout the country as a large part of its rolling stock has become exaggerated, with 58 percent of the entire fleet of locomotives completing its functional useful life.
